EVAN NICOLE BELL

ABOUT

Evan Nicole Bell is a dynamic artist—equal parts vocalist, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer—whose talents have captured the hearts of an international audience. After captivating the internet with her electrifying covers of Robert Petways Catfish Blues and Albert King’s Crosscut Saw, Bell quickly garnered a devoted fanbase. Her passionate acoustic fingerpicking, “Hendrixian” electric guitar riffs, and sultry mezzo-soprano voice create a sound that’s uniquely hers, with a discography that lives at the intersection of electric blues, soulful Americana, and cinematic storytelling.

Her debut album, Shades of Blue, was released on January 16, 2025, via Hummingbird Records. Praised as “nothing short of superb” by Blues in Britain and “Like Prince meets LightninHopkins” by Americana icon Todd Snider, the 10-track record peaked at No. 1 on Roots Music Report’s Top Singer/Songwriter Albums Chart and earned placements on the iTunes Top 100, Americana Music Association’s Top Albums, and the Big Blues Chart. The physical copies—vinyl and CDs—sold out entirely, reaching listeners in over 22 countries.

Her music has received airplay in 25+ countries, with features in Baltimore Magazine, Blues in Britain, Blues News (Finland), and on NPR stations nationwide. In a rave review, Blues News declared Bell “the best, most interesting, and most innovative new artist [we’ve] heard since Alicia Keys… [she’s] Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, and Etta James all in one.” In recognition of her artistic excellence, Bell was awarded the 2025 Baker Artist Award in Music, Baltimore’s most prestigious arts prize.

Bell’s videos have been viewed 13+ million times across social media platforms, and her half-hour Public Radio Music Day live session was featured on the front page of NPR Music. Bell transcends genres, weaving a tapestry of blues, rock, folk, pop, and Americana in her music, showing appreciation for the foundational genres on which she got her start while at the same time forging her own unique path forward. A true multi-hyphenate, she is the sole songwriter and producer of her songs, playing every instrument except for the drums.

Bell’s passion for music began with studying piano, fingerstyle acoustic, and classical guitar in her adolescence. However, it was in 2018, when her mother gifted her an electric guitar on a whim, that her passion for music and songwriting skyrocketed. Armed with her trusty new Les Paul (named Stormy), she immersed herself in the study of music theory, voice, guitar, and the blues—eventually leaving her job as an educator to pursue music full time.

Beyond her musical endeavors, Bell is an award-winning documentary photographer and has shown two solo exhibitions of her work. She has a B.A. from Duke University and a graduate certificate from the University of California, Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy. Her archived art portfolio can be viewed at evannicolebell.art.

Bell is currently at work on her sophomore album, slated for release in 2026.
